Recently, the Nonglicuo Reservoir Project in Qamdo City, Tibet, undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 10 Co., Ltd., successfully achieved impoundment by closing the gates, marking the full completion of the project's main works and its official transition into a new stage of impoundment and operation.

The Nonglicuo Reservoir is a key project in the 14th Five-Year Plan for water conservancy reform and development of the Tibet Autonomous Region and a controlling backbone water source project in the Lengqu River Basin, with the construction area at an average altitude of 4,500 meters. Leveraging the natural terrain, facilities including a reservoir with a storage capacity of 11.92 million cubic meters, a spillway, a water conveyance and release tunnel, and an asphalt core wall sand-gravel dam with a crest elevation of 4,470 meters were built.

During construction, the construction team innovatively integrated BIM technology, UAV photogrammetry technology, and intelligent dam roller compaction technology, strictly implemented the ecological construction model of "refined design + efficient construction + land reclamation," and established a sound quality and safety management system, setting a regional record for the greatest depth of dam cutoff walls among water conservancy projects under construction and advancing high-quality project delivery efficiently and effectively.

The project construction not only consolidated the water conservancy foundation but also became an "engine" driving local people to increase incomes and become prosperous. According to statistics, during the project construction period, a total of 39.85 million yuan in direct and indirect benefits was brought to local farmers and herdsmen, and through targeted vocational training, the skill levels of farmers and herdsmen were effectively improved. This "livelihood answer sheet" also won the sincere recognition of the people—at the ceremony site, the People's Government of Jida Township and representatives of local farmers and herdsmen awarded banners to the participating construction units, expressing their gratitude to the builders in a simple way.

A reservoir of clear water benefits the people's livelihood. The project focuses closely on solving the core "last mile" water use problem in Baxoi County. Through the supporting irrigation district system, it has added and improved 51,100 mu of effective irrigation area, guaranteed the irrigation needs of tens of thousands of mu of cultivated land and forest land along the route, and provided a stable and reliable water source for Baxoi County seat and Jida Township, continuously injecting "water momentum" into the high-quality development of the local society and economy and enabling people of all ethnic groups on the plateau to share the dividends of development.
