Recently, the Wuqia Reservoir Project in Kuqa City, Xinjiang, undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co., Ltd., successfully passed the acceptance inspection for the gate-lowering and water storage stage, marking a major milestone in the project's construction and laying a solid foundation for its full commissioning.

The acceptance expert panel conducted on-site inspections of key structures and processes, including the main dam body, water-retaining structures, and gate hoisting equipment, and carried out comprehensive and rigorous examinations and inquiries regarding project quality, the installation and initial value collection of safety monitoring facilities, the gate-lowering and water storage plan, emergency measures, and the special acceptance inspection of reservoir area resettlement. At the acceptance meeting, all participating construction units delivered special reports and provided complete technical archives and acceptance documentation. After strict deliberation and inquiry, the acceptance committee unanimously determined that the project meets the conditions for gate-lowering and water storage and approved it for acceptance.

The project is a key water conservancy project in the Aksu Prefecture of Xinjiang, located in Yixihala Township, Kuqa City. It consists of a water diversion project, a reservoir dam, a discharge culvert, and a discharge channel, with a total storage capacity of 8.3 million cubic meters. It is a Class IV small (Type 1) diversion-injection plain reservoir whose main functions are industrial water supply, emergency drought-relief agricultural water supply, and contingency reserve.

The project commenced construction in August 2024. During construction, the Sinohydro Bureau 3 project team adopted the "one geotextile, one geomembrane, plus one geotextile" technique and, through air-tightness tests and spark testing, strictly controlled the construction quality of the reservoir basin geomembrane, providing strong guarantees for dam stability and overall project quality. After commissioning, the Wuqia Reservoir will serve comprehensive functions including water supply, irrigation, and emergency drought relief. It will supply 79 million cubic meters of industrial water per year to the Chengbei Water Plant and allocate 3.2 million cubic meters of emergency drought-relief agricultural water supply to downstream irrigation districts, significantly enhancing Kuqa City's water resource regulation and storage capacity and providing important support for regional economic and social development and ecological environmental protection.
