To implement the national "Belt and Road" talent cultivation strategy, deepen the effectiveness of university-enterprise collaborative education, and enhance students' awareness of career planning and professional development, on October 12 the College of Civil Engineering held the "Blueprint Station, Career Navigation" entrepreneur lecture event in the conference room on the fifth floor of Boxue Hall Building A. The keynote speaker was Wen Zhe, Chairman and Senior Engineer of Shanxi Jinbaodao Foundation Engineering Co., Ltd., and student representatives of both undergraduate and graduate programs attended the lecture.
During the lecture, Wen Zhe focused on three core themes: the domestic civil engineering predicament, the opportunities of the Belt and Road, and how civil engineers can break through. Drawing on his company's practical data, he pointed out that China's domestic civil engineering industry faces problems such as overcapacity, declining profits (the 2024 output value profit margin was only 2.30%), and shrinking talent demand. At the same time, he compared this with the infrastructure needs of countries along the Belt and Road—emerging economies covered by the six economic corridors along the route are in urgent need of infrastructure and energy projects, with special geotechnical treatment and land reclamation being core demands. In addition, he shared practical cases from Shanxi Jinbaodao: relying on its "dynamic compaction instead of piling" technology and ultra-high-energy dynamic compaction equipment, the company has completed more than 30 projects in over 10 countries along the route. He also specifically mentioned the geographical advantages and cooperation opportunities in Central Asia and Southeast Asia, providing students with a new career path of "going global." During the exchange session, students actively asked questions and held in-depth discussions with the keynote speaker, and the atmosphere was lively. The successful holding of this lecture helped civil engineering students clarify the industry situation and provided strong guidance for career planning. It is hoped that students will take this opportunity to consolidate their professional foundations, pay attention to industry frontiers, and in the future bravely shoulder their missions in the Belt and Road infrastructure field, contributing to the development of national infrastructure construction.
