The Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport project, a key transportation hub under China's 14th Five-Year Plan, has achieved a major milestone in its construction. On the morning of August 30, with the completion of the final concrete pour for the pavement of Runway North One, constructed by PowerChina Airport Construction Company, the two runways of the Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport project—North One and South One—achieved dual-line connectivity, laying a solid foundation for official operation by the end of next year.
Runway North One, constructed by PowerChina Airport Construction Company, has a total length of 3,800 meters and is of 4F class, capable of meeting the takeoff and landing requirements of large wide-body airliners such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing B747. During the construction, the project team of PowerChina Airport Construction Company fully leveraged the strength and integrity of a central state-owned enterprise, aimed to create a high-quality project, and implemented all-factor construction management. Facing complex geological conditions and changeable climate at the coastal construction site, the team overcame difficulties and fully applied new technologies and processes, ensuring that each construction milestone was achieved on schedule and with high quality, and was established by the project owner as a benchmark model section.
