On the afternoon of October 7, the 969-meter-long Hejiagou Tunnel in the Guang'an section of the Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway in Sichuan Province was successfully holed through. This is also the first tunnel to be holed through in the Guang'an section of the Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, marking a new breakthrough in the construction of the Guang'an section and laying the foundation for the railway to be completed and opened to traffic as scheduled.

During the National Day holiday, the Hejiagou Tunnel construction site was bustling with roaring machinery. The builders gave up their vacation and stayed at their posts, advancing tunnel construction at full speed with a high degree of professionalism and enthusiasm.

On the afternoon of October 7, at the Hejiagou Tunnel construction site in the Guang'an section of the Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway in Sichuan Province, builders used machinery to excavate the last of the mud and rock blocking the tunnel.

The Hejiagou Tunnel is located in Fulong Town, Guang'an City, with an entrance chainage of DK385+420 and an exit chainage of DK396+389. It is 969 m long and consists of a single-tube, double-track tunnel. Class IV surrounding rock accounts for 475 m, or 49% of the total tunnel length; Class V surrounding rock accounts for 425 m, or 44% of the total tunnel length; and the open-cut section accounts for 69 m, or 7% of the total tunnel length. The entrance connects to the subgrade, and the exit is adjacent to the Hejiagou Bridge. The entire tunnel lies on a right-hand curve with a radius of R=9000 m. The tunnel has a single-slope longitudinal gradient, rising at 13‰ from the entrance to the exit. The maximum burial depth is 107 m, and the minimum burial depth is about 17 m. The tunnel is characterized by well-developed dangerous rock and rockfall at the mountain top above the entrance and by the susceptibility of the shallow-buried section to collapse and roof fall. In the face of complex geological conditions and highly difficult construction technical requirements, ...

The Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Beijing-Kunming Corridor and the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou Corridor in China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. Once completed, it will not only greatly shorten the drive from Guang'an to Chongqing but also bring great convenience to economic development along the route and to people's travel. At the same time, the line will connect with multiple lines, including the already completed and operational Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway and Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, as well as the under-construction Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway, Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway, and Xi'an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway, further improving the road network structure of the central and western regions and promoting rapid regional economic development.
