No work stoppage during the National Day holiday: striving to advance project construction while staying at their posts — On October 7, more than 2,000 people on Section 9 of the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway remained at the construction front line, making every effort to advance the schedule of key nodes such as the Changlinggang Tunnel and ensure the project is completed and opened to traffic on schedule.

The Changlinggang Tunnel is one of the controlling works of the entire Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway line. The tunnel passes through Xinmiao Town in Fuling District and Shuanghekou Town in Banan District of Chongqing.

The tunnel's geology is complex, with adverse geological conditions including shallow cover, bedding-parallel eccentric pressure, coal-seam gas, and swelling rock; the tunnel's fault zones are highly fractured, with water and mud inrushes and abundant karst and groundwater. In addition, the tunnel passes over the Chuntianmen Tunnel and the Yanglushan Tunnel of the expressway, and passes under and over existing structures and other complex areas, making it a Grade I high-risk tunnel.

During the holiday period, the project did not pause, and stocking up on construction materials in advance was key. Ten days before the holiday, the construction contractor communicated with suppliers to prepare holiday materials, purchasing more than 1,000 truckloads of various raw materials totaling more than 30,000 tons, which ensured that the mixing plant and steel structure factory could run at full capacity and provide sufficient products. This also ensured that key node schedules such as those of the Changlinggang Tunnel and the Jianzishan Tunnel would not be halted due to material shortages and could be advanced at full speed.

During the holiday period, the construction contractor further strengthened supervision and inspection, requiring all personnel to keep a firm grip on safety and quality, stay vigilant on environmental protection and civilized construction, and carry out self-inspection and self-correction for work safety, so as to ensure the project advances safely and steadily, ensure that every responsible person performs their duties and fulfills their responsibilities, strengthen refined quality management, and control construction quality throughout the process.

To ensure the timeliness of concrete and steel component supply and the stability of product quality, the project department requires that the time from the mixing plant receiving the dispatch order to the concrete being transported to the construction site shall not exceed 40 minutes. The rebar processing plant, meanwhile, has increased the supervision efforts of quality and safety officers to ensure that products meet on-site testing requirements before they are transported.

At present, we are in the golden period for construction, and we are sprinting at full speed toward the annual target. All construction personnel have exchanged their perseverance for accelerated project progress, striving to build a quality project, a demonstration project, and a green project, and fighting at full strength for the early completion of the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway.

The Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway has a main line length of 251 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is an important part of the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou and Beijing-Kunming corridors, which are main corridors of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. After the project is completed and opened to traffic, the northeastern Chongqing region will form a dual 350 km/h high-speed railway corridor together with the already-opened Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, which will help Chongqing further improve its "Mi"-shaped high-speed railway network structure, promote the development of Three Gorges tourism and facilitate travel for people along the line, and boost interconnection within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
