On the morning of September 26, the 2024 China-Singapore Green and Low-Carbon Development Forum was held in the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City. Wang Hui, Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Desmond Lee, Minister for National Development of Singapore, and Zhang Gong, Mayor of Tianjin, attended and delivered speeches.

Wang Hui stated that promoting green and low-carbon development is an international trend and the general direction of the times. In recent years, China has vigorously developed green buildings, green building materials, and green construction, taking industrial transformation as the foundation, scientific and technological innovation as the guide, and the improvement of people's livelihoods as the goal, thereby significantly improving urban and rural living environments. China is willing to work hand in hand with Singapore, focusing on advancing the construction of "good housing," building a green and low-carbon industrial system, and promoting the comprehensive development model of the eco-city, to jointly advance the construction of the eco-city and strive to create a national green development demonstration zone.

Desmond Lee stated that in 2023, Singapore and China announced the upgrading of the eco-city into an enhanced version of the national green development demonstration zone and the strengthening of cooperation in the field of green development in the next stage of development. To this end, Singapore has launched 15 new cooperation initiatives and introduced new China-Singapore linkage policies to encourage Singaporean enterprises to bring near-zero-carbon solutions to the eco-city for pilot projects. He expressed the hope that friends from both China and Singapore will make good use of the forum and visit activities to exchange and learn from each other and facilitate new cooperation.

Zhang Gong stated that as important policies for the national green development demonstration zone are being released, the first China-Singapore Green and Low-Carbon Development Forum is being held, which is believed to build new consensus and add new momentum for deepening China-Singapore green and low-carbon cooperation. Tianjin will pragmatically advance the construction of the green development demonstration zone by pooling efforts to cultivate a "demonstration field" for low-carbon technologies, build a "new highland" for green industries, do a good job in the "addition and subtraction" of energy efficiency, and build a smart and livable "new homeland," striving to make the eco-city a new model of sustainable urban development.

Before the meeting, the attending leaders and representatives of relevant departments and localities, as well as representatives of relevant Chinese and Singaporean industry associations, research institutions, and enterprises, visited an exhibition of achievements in the construction of green and low-carbon cities, "good housing," and other fields.

This year's forum was themed "Promoting China-Singapore Green and Low-Carbon Development and Jointly Building 'Belt and Road' International Cooperation." At the meeting, activities were held including the release of the green and low-carbon construction achievements and vision of the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, keynote speeches, signing of key projects, and the unveiling of the eco-city's all-domain green electricity application demonstration zone.
