On the local time of the 11th, the Carola Bridge in Dresden, a city in southeastern Germany, partially collapsed.

The person in charge of handling the incident stated that the accident occurred at around 3 a.m., the collapsed section of the bridge deck is about one hundred meters long, and there is currently a serious risk of the bridge collapsing. The local fire department is urging people to stay as far away from the bridge as possible.
It is understood that the bridge is a combined rail and road bridge. No vehicles were passing at the time of the incident, and there have been no reports of casualties so far.
According to a notice from the local fire department, the remaining section of the bridge carries a risk of further collapse that cannot be ignored. It is worth noting that the bridge had originally been scheduled for a full renovation next year, and its other sections were reopened to traffic in March 2024 after several months of repairs. Safety and rescue work are currently being carried out urgently.
Roads around the bridge have now been closed off, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
