Recently, construction of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 23 has been steadily advancing, with multiple project milestones successfully completed. All contract sections are working with full vigor, staying focused on their goals, and ensuring the project proceeds steadily and efficiently.

On August 27, with the successful breakthrough of the upward line of the section from Jiangchuan East Road Station to Zilong Road Station, Line 23 welcomed the **first shield-driven section to achieve bidirectional breakthrough** along the entire line. Previously, the downward line of this section had achieved breakthrough on June 22, 2024. The successful breakthrough of the upward line this time not only marks the full bidirectional breakthrough of both the upward and downward lines of the tunnel in the section from Jiangchuan East Road Station to Zilong Road Station, but also demonstrates the outstanding construction capability and efficient management level of the Shanghai metro construction team under complex geological conditions.

As the first section tunnel on the entire Line 23 to begin advancement, the section from Jiangchuan East Road Station to Zilong Road Station faced many challenges during advancement, including crossing numerous pipelines, revetments, and bridges. To this end, the construction unit organized carefully, coordinated and planned in advance, urged the construction contractor to prepare special construction plans based on actual site conditions, and strictly implemented technical and safety briefings. The construction contractor even implemented a 24-hour leadership duty system, actively responded to the requirements of "six high qualities" and "ten goals," and, through the implementation of the "three refinements and three controls" management measures, ensured that during segment assembly there was no damage, no misalignment, and no leakage, successfully completing this important milestone.

At the same time, good news also came from Mojiang Road Station of Civil Engineering Section 8 of Line 23. The last roof slab of the station was recently poured, marking the successful topping-out of the station's main structure. As an underground two-story frame structure, Mojiang Road Station is constructed using the open-cut sequential method. Before construction, the project team formulated detailed procedural implementation rules, built a strict quality control system, applied BIM technology, optimized construction techniques, and continuously improved project quality. The topping-out of the main structure has laid a solid foundation for subsequent shield construction.

In addition, Fanghe Road Station of Line 23 has also made important progress. With the successful hoisting into the trench and completion of pouring of the last reinforcement cage, the station's main retaining structure has been closed. As the 10th station of Phase I of Line 23, Fanghe Road Station is an underground two-story island-type station, and its main structure has a total of 92 diaphragm walls. Since the construction of the first diaphragm wall began on May 29, the project team has overcome adverse factors such as continuous rainfall and extreme high temperatures. Through advance coordination and planning, reasonable arrangement of the construction schedule, and strict implementation of the "three inspection system" and other measures, it ensured the high-quality completion of diaphragm wall construction. With the closure of the retaining structure, the construction contractor will closely link subsequent construction procedures to create favorable conditions for foundation pit excavation.

Shanghai Rail Transit Line 23 is of great significance for strengthening rail transit services between old Minhang and the urban area and for driving the development of the southwestern part of Puxi. Line 23 is entirely underground, with a total length of about 28.6 kilometers and a total of 22 stations, including 5 interchange stations. It connects important areas such as Minhang Development Zone, Zizhu High-tech Zone, Wujing Transformation Area, and Xuhui Riverside Area, passing through the two major administrative districts of Minhang District and Xuhui District. By then, Zizhu Science Park will have a dual rail transit configuration of Line 15 and Line 23.
