August 9 (Report) — Looking along the winding coastline of Xinghua Bay, rows of "big windmills" stand on the azure sea. Their slowly turning blades light up thousands of homes and also help drive Fujian's push toward a strong maritime economy. On the 8th, reporters accompanying the "High-Quality Development Research Tour" Fujian press group visited the Fujian Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power International Industrial Park to explore how offshore wind power is becoming more "new" and more "green."

Building major national equipment and achieving industry "leadership"
As China's **offshore wind power industrial park covering the entire industrial chain, the Fujian Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power International Industrial Park has formed a complete industrial chain production layout including wind turbines, turbine structural components, turbine assembly, and blade production. Since 2019, the Fujian Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power International Industrial Park has successively rolled out China's independently developed 6.7 MW, 8 MW, 10 MW, 13 MW, 13.6 MW, 16 MW, and 18 MW offshore wind turbine units, achieving continuous improvement and innovative breakthroughs in China's domestic manufacturing capability for offshore wind power equipment.
"A 16 MW wind turbine is estimated to generate 34 kWh of electricity per revolution and 66 million kWh per year, enough to supply 36,000 three-person households," introduced Wang Jiabin, deputy manager of the Power Operations Department of Fuqing Strait Power Generation Co., Ltd. From the initial 6.7 MW to today's rollout of 18 MW offshore wind turbine units, major national equipment has frequently been "updated," and wind turbine manufacturing technology in the industrial park has continued to iterate and upgrade, constantly setting new records for offshore wind power equipment manufacturing in the Asia-Pacific region and even the world.

The "Olympic spirit" has also reached offshore wind turbine manufacturing. As the world's **internationalized high-power prototype test wind farm, the Xinghua Bay Phase I Wind Farm is known as the "Olympic arena" for the world's large-capacity offshore wind turbine units. Fourteen large-capacity wind turbines from eight mainstream manufacturers at home and abroad "compete on the same stage" here, promoting progress in China's key technologies for large-capacity offshore wind turbine units.
"Fujian's offshore wind power industry had already gathered rapidly and achieved synergy," Sheng Lei, deputy general manager of Fujian Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power International Industrial Park Operation Co., Ltd., told reporters. Now, by further gathering a number of leading enterprises through the industrial park, a complete industrial chain including wind turbines, generators, blades, and steel structural components has been formed. The offshore wind power industry here has achieved a leap from "following" to "running in parallel" and then to "leading."

Focusing on going "green" and helping "Made in Fujian" go global
When mentioning the reasons for locating the Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power International Industrial Park in Fujian, Sheng Lei pointed out that Fujian has unique wind resources and convenient transportation conditions via deep-water ports. Through such measures to reduce costs and increase efficiency, coupled with continuous iterative upgrading of technology, the price of clean energy has been "beaten down" and is no longer a byword for being expensive.
Reporters learned that since commissioning, the Fuqing Xinghua Bay Offshore Wind Farm has cumulatively generated more than 5.2 billion kWh of electricity, equivalent to reducing coal consumption by about 1.57 million tons and lowering carbon dioxide emissions by about 3.83 million tons. Closely following the "dual carbon" goals, the offshore wind power industry continues to contribute green and clean electricity to local society and boost energy-saving and low-carbon development.
In addition, the Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power International Industrial Park also focuses on going "green" in its design and planning. The park actively promotes the construction of a smart microgrid, integrating rooftop photovoltaic systems, wind turbine systems, energy storage, and microgrid control systems, becoming the country's **industrial park to achieve "carbon neutrality."
At present, the park's products are not only widely used in China's offshore wind power development but also exported to Turkey, Singapore, and other Belt and Road partner countries, becoming a new calling card for promoting international production capacity cooperation and achieving the goal of "based in Fujian, serving the whole country, and radiating globally."
With products "going global," how will the industrial park develop in the future? Sheng Lei said, "Next, we not only want our offshore wind power equipment to 'go global,' but also want to strive to build an export base for the offshore wind power industrial chain covering all links including design, construction, equipment export, and operation management."
