On August 13, an orange train with a steady, distinctive design departed from the Wutong Street Depot and headed toward Lumiao Station, marking that the first phase of Zhengzhou Rail Transit Line 8 has officially entered the no-load trial operation stage.

The first phase of Line 8 is an east-west trunk line of Zhengzhou's urban rail transit, with a total length of 51.78 km, making it the longest metro line in the approved construction plans. It starts in the west at Tianjianhu Station on the east side of the Ring Expressway, runs mainly along Kexue Avenue, Ruida Road, Tianyuan Street, Dongfeng Road, Longhu Middle Ring Road, Zhongxing Road, Shangdu Road, and Lvbo Avenue (Zhengzhou-Kaifeng Logistics Expressway), and ends in the east at Lumiao Station in Zhongmu County. It has 28 stations, all underground, including 9 transfer stations: it transfers with Line 1 at Zhengzhou University Station and Zhengzhou East Railway Station, with Line 2 at Dongfeng Road Station, with Line 3 at Tongle Station and Putian West Station, with Line 4 at Longhu Zhonghuan South Station, with Line 5 at Zhengzhou East Railway Station, with the northeast section of the first phase of Line 6 (under construction) at Xiaoying Station, with Line 7 (under construction) at Baimiao Station, and with Line 12 at High-speed Railway Park Station. A new depot and a new parking lot have been built, namely the Putian Vehicle Base and the Wutong Street Parking Lot. The trains use Type A cars in 6-car formations, with a maximum operating speed of 100 km/h.

As a transverse line of the triangular trunk network of the municipal express lines, the first phase of Line 8, once opened for operation, will connect the main urban area with the eastern new town, strengthen lateral links with the main urban area, further enhance the level of integrated comprehensive transportation in Zhengzhou, and be of great significance for accelerating the modernization of Zhengzhou as a national central city.
