On August 11, at the construction site of the Yellow River Grand Bridge of the Qihe-Jinan Section Reconstruction and Expansion Project of the Beijing-Taipei Expressway, construction of the bridge's main towers and incremental launching of the steel box girders were proceeding in an orderly manner, laying a solid foundation for the next step of high-quality advancement of the stay cable installation work on the main bridge.

It is understood that the Qihe-Jinan Section Reconstruction and Expansion Project of the Beijing-Taipei Expressway is the first expressway reconstruction and expansion project in China to build a parallel Yellow River Grand Bridge, with a total length of 23.99 kilometers, constructed to a two-way twelve-lane expressway standard. The new bridge is spaced 60 meters from the existing bridge, and the main bridge is a 1,080-meter-long cable-stayed bridge with high and low towers, twin towers, double cable planes, and steel box girders.

In order to reduce safety risks during construction and operation, the bridge towers adopt a steel shell-concrete hybrid structure, with the upper tower columns using a steel shell-concrete composite structure and the lower tower columns using a reinforced concrete structure. This steel shell-concrete hybrid bridge tower is also the first of its kind to be applied in China.
