The reporter learned from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. that at 10:18 on January 6, the Waitangfan Tunnel of the Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through, marking the completion of all 38 tunnels on the entire line and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent girder fabrication and erection construction.

The Waitangfan Tunnel is a controlling project of the Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway, with a total length of 278 meters and a design speed of 250 km/h; it is a double-track ballasted tunnel. The tunnel passes beneath the filled subgrade section of the Hangzhou-Xin'an-Jingdezhen Expressway—a dual-direction, six-lane highway operating at 100 km/h—at an intersection angle of 48°. The tunnel runs through a low-mountain and hilly area with considerable topographic relief, and the rock mass has well-developed joints and fissures; it is a Class I high-risk tunnel with high construction safety risks and extremely great construction difficulty.

To ensure construction safety and quality, the project construction management unit, the Hangzhou Railway Hub Project Construction Command, organized the construction unit, the pre-station project department of the Hangzhou-Quzhou Bid 1 of China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group, to scientifically formulate the construction plan and conduct safety technical disclosure in advance; during construction, the principles of "advance detection, advanced pipe roof, short advance, weak disturbance, strong support, early closure, and frequent measurement" were strictly implemented, mechanical excavation was adopted, and the four-step CRD method and the three-bench temporary invert method were used to minimize the impact of excavation construction on the expressway above the tunnel. In-tunnel construction adopted advanced support measures such as spiral earth-discharging pipe-jacking pipe roof, tunnel body pipe shed, advanced small conduit, and advanced curtain grouting to control the impact of excavation construction on expressway pavement settlement; for the expressway pavement, sleeve valve pipe grouting reinforcement, 24-hour manual patrol, and measuring robots + prisms were used for all-weather uninterrupted settlement monitoring, reducing the interference of tunnel construction with the operation of the Hangzhou-Xin'an-Jingdezhen Expressway.

The Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway is a fast high-speed rail corridor in Zhejiang Province connecting Hangzhou City and Quzhou City. The newly built main line is about 131 kilometers long, with 6 stations: Jiande, Jiande South, Longyou North, Qujiang (reserved), Quzhou West, and Jiangshan, and a design speed of 350 km/h. After the Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway is completed and put into operation, it will build a fast transportation corridor and economic bridge between the Hangzhou Bay Economic Belt and the Jinhua-Quzhou-Lishui Economic Belt, which is of great significance for further optimizing the structural layout of the regional railway network, helping the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, and promoting coordinated regional economic development.
