Shuilong Interchange on the Hunan Section of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway

On December 28, the reporter learned that Hunan recently issued the "Traffic Organization Work Plan for the Reconstruction and Expansion Project of the Leiyang Dashi to Yizhang (Hunan-Guangdong Border) Section of the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway" (referred to as the Leiyi Reconstruction and Expansion Project). The project starts at Dashi, Leiyang, runs south through five counties and urban districts including Leiyang, Yongxing, Suxian, Beihu and Yizhang, and ends at Xiaotang, Yizhang (the Hunan-Guangdong provincial border). The route has a total length of 144.309 kilometers and adopts the standard of a two-way eight-lane expressway for the reconstruction and expansion of the old road. Among them, the design speed of the section from the Dashi Interchange at the starting point to the Wulipai Interchange is 120 km/h, with a subgrade width of 41.5 meters; the design speed of the section from the Wulipai Interchange to the end point is 100 km/h, with a subgrade width of 41 meters. A new Chenzhou Service Area and Leiyang South Interchange will be added.

Construction section

According to the plan, the Leiyi Reconstruction and Expansion Project in principle adopts the traffic organization design scheme of "road network guidance and diversion, overall two-way four-lane traffic maintenance, and local two- and three-lane traffic maintenance," while setting up permanent diversion points and launching "highway-to-highway" emergency diversion in due course.

In addition, during construction, the hub interchanges will maintain traffic throughout, ensuring that traffic on the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, the G76 Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway and Hunan Expressway S31 Yifeng Expressway is not interrupted. FM90.5 China Traffic Radio will continue to follow the diversion and detour plans during the construction of the Leiyi Reconstruction and Expansion Project, and promptly release traffic control measures and detour routes to drivers and passengers.

The Leiyang Dashi to Yizhang (Hunan-Guangdong Border) Section of the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, known as the "southern gateway" of Hunan's expressways, has finally ushered in capacity expansion. The completion of the project will further smooth Hunan's connection northward to the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and southward to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
