On October 23, amid the roar of the cutterhead cutting through reinforced concrete, the shield machine "Fenjin No. 2" on the right line of the Dalang Station–Wetland Park Station section of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1 successfully reached the exit. From this point on, all tunnels of the first phase of the Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1 project have been successfully completed, achieving full-line "tunnel breakthrough."
The reporter learned that currently, the Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1 has achieved full breakthrough of all shield tunnels, and other construction is also proceeding in an orderly manner. Among these, 6.9 km of elevated section bridges have been completed, accounting for 81% of the total; of the 25 stations along the line, 21 have been topped out, and 19 are undergoing ancillary works; the comprehensive building of the Daojiao Depot has been topped out; 33 km of short track has been laid, and short-track connection has been achieved in the section from Binjiang Gymnasium Station–Guantai Road Station–Zhongxin Guangchang Station–Hongfu Road Station–Xinyuan Road Station–Dongchengnan Station–Tongsha Park Station, and in the Dalingshan North Station–Dalingshan Station–Dalingshan East Station section; multiple stations including Wanghong Station, Daojiao Station, Daojiao East Station, Binjiang Gymnasium Station, and Guantai Road Station are undergoing fit-out construction.
According to the introduction, Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1 runs through Dongguan's Shuixiang area, central urban area, central area, Songshan Lake High-tech Industrial Zone, and the southeastern area adjacent to Shenzhen. It starts at Wanghong Station and ends at Huangjiang Center Station, passing through 10 towns and subdistricts (parks) including Wangniudun, Hongmei, Daojiao, Wanjiang, Nancheng, Dongcheng, Dalingshan, Songshan Lake, Dalang, and Huangjiang. The geological conditions and surrounding environment along the line are extremely complex, with multiple crossings of the main and tributary streams of the Dongjiang River, expressways such as Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Dongguan-Shenzhen, Foshan-Dongguan, and Dongguan-Panyu, intercity railways such as Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen and Dongguan-Huizhou, 220kV/110kV high-voltage power towers, ultra-high-voltage oil and gas transmission pipelines, and numerous large industrial zones and residential areas. Most of the shield tunnels along the line are located in special strata such as extremely thick silt layers, water-rich sand layers, boulder clusters, upper-soft lower-hard ground, and full-face hard rock, making construction risk and difficulty extremely high.
The total length of the Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1 is 57.46 km, including 7.71 km of elevated line and 49.43 km of underground line. It has one depot and one parking lot, four main substations, and a total of 25 stations, 13 of which are transfer stations. It will realize transfers with the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen, Dongguan-Huizhou, and Foshan-Dongguan intercity railways, the already operational Line 2, and the planned Line 1 branch line and Lines 3, 6, 7, 8, and 12.
It is worth noting that the first phase of the Dongguan Rail Line 1 project provides a rapid transportation link running through the urban area from northwest to southeast, and features a long route, high speed, and strong internal cohesion and external connectivity. It applies cutting-edge technologies such as fully automated driverless operation and BIM, with a maximum design speed of 120 km/h. After completion, it will form a "cross" interchange with the already opened Dongguan Line 2. In the future, Line 1 will connect westward to the Guangzhou rail transit network and operate through southward with the Shenzhen Line 6 branch line, which is of far-reaching significance for advancing the integrated transportation system construction of the Greater Bay Area. According to the latest news from the Dongguan Rail Transit Bureau, the first phase of Dongguan Rail Line 1 will strive to open for trial operation in 2025.
