On October 21, the Sangyuanzi Yellow River Bridge on the G312 Qingshuiyi–Fujiayao Highway, Gansu's first dual-direction eight-lane Yellow River bridge invested in and built by the Provincial Public Transport Construction Group, was successfully closed, marking major construction progress for this cable-stayed bridge with separated decks and jointed pylons, the largest span of its kind in a domestic seismic zone of intensity 8 or above.

The 61-kilometer G312 Qingfu Class I Highway starts in Qingshuiyi Township, Yuzhong County in the east and ends in Zhonghe Town, Gaolan County in the west, connecting seamlessly with the under-construction Fujiayao–Kushui Highway; it is being built to Class I highway standards. Once completed, it will be of great significance for improving the national and regional road network, enhancing the radiating and driving capacity of the provincial capital Lanzhou, and accelerating the construction of the Yuzhong Ecological Innovation City in Gansu.

The Sangyuanzi Yellow River Bridge is located in the Yellow River Sangyuan Gorge in Yuzhong County, with a total investment of 961 million yuan, a total length of 959 meters, and a main span of 328 meters. Its pylons use a diamond-shaped "twin tower" structure, with the south tower and north tower standing 152 meters and 133 meters tall respectively. It is a controlling project of the Qingfu Class I Highway. Its successful closure has laid a solid foundation for the early completion and operation of the entire Qingfu Class I Highway.

The Sangyuanzi Yellow River Bridge is also the province's first "5G + smart bridge" project, and the new technologies and new materials used set records for bridge construction in Gansu.

According to reports, the Sangyuanzi Yellow River Bridge project relies on a full-life-cycle monitoring system to conduct real-time monitoring and research on the bridge's working environment, traffic loads, and various structural responses; it adopts a "steel truss-UHPC (ultra-high performance concrete) lightweight composite girder," which is lighter in structural dead weight and more amenable to prefabricated construction, effectively improving the bridge's mechanical performance and spanning capacity; the entire bridge's steel structure uses weather-resistant steel that requires no coating, capable of "using rust to prevent rust" to stop the continued development of steel corrosion and achieve long-term corrosion protection.
