Recently, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. and the Shaanxi Provincial Government jointly approved the preliminary design of the Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway, marking that the Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway is about to enter the engineering implementation stage.

The Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway starts from Yan'an Station and runs north through Baota District and Yanchuan County of Yan'an City, and Qingjian County, Suide County, Mizhi County and Hengshan District of Yulin City to Yulin South Station. The newly built line is 238.8 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The entire line has 6 stations: Yan'an New Area, Yanchuan, Qingjian North, Suide West, Mizhi North and Yulin South. Among them, Yan'an New Area Station has a scale of 4 platforms and 9 tracks, with a supporting newly built 6-track stabling yard and 2 servicing shed tracks; Suide West Station has a scale of 2 platforms and 6 tracks, reserving conditions for the introduction of the Taiyuan-Suide Railway; Yulin South Station has a scale of 3 platforms and 7 tracks, reserving conditions for the introduction of the Baotou-Yulin Railway. A supporting newly built 2-track stabling yard and 2 servicing shed tracks will also be constructed.

The Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway is an important part of the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou corridor in the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network and of Shaanxi Province's "rice-shaped" high-speed railway network. After completion, the entire high-speed rail journey from Xi'an via Yan'an to Yulin will take only 2 hours.
