Recently, XCMG's XDN3000-S pipe jacking machine, the "steel pangolin," broke through the soil, marking the successful completion of the Wuhan Nanniwan Avenue Power Tunnel Project.

As one of Wuhan's first pilot projects for building a world-class urban power grid, the Nanniwan Power Tunnel Project has a tunnel section with a total length of 6.299 km, pipe jacking cover depth of 5–15 m, and a total of 22 working shafts. The tunnel inner diameters are 3 m and 2.7 m respectively. Construction crosses complex strata, making pipe jacking extremely difficult.

The pipe-jacking tunnel adopts prefabricated ring-shaped reinforced concrete pipes, with "F-type" steel bell-and-spigot joints and built-in wedge-shaped rubber water-stop rings.

The XCMG XDN3000-S took the lead in this project. The jacking distance for this section reached 618 m, with a single-day jacking record of up to 30 m. Its efficient and precise jacking has been highly recognized by the construction contractor.
