On the morning of September 10, with the completion of the final concrete pour, the last bored pile of the Dongying Yellow River Rail-Road Bridge on the newly built Tianjin–Weifang High-Speed Railway (Jin-Wei HSR), constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, was finished, marking the successful conclusion of all bored pile construction for the project. This bridge, which sets a new record for the largest span over the Yellow River and the largest group pile foundation for a combined rail-road bridge in China, has now fully entered the construction phase for pile caps and pier shafts.
The Dongying Yellow River Rail-Road Bridge has a main span of 600 meters and is the largest-span steel truss cable-stayed bridge over the Yellow River. The bridge has a total length of 2,230.4 meters and consists of three parts: the main bridge, the auxiliary bridge, and the approach bridges. The bridge has a total of 923 bored piles. The foundations of the two main tower piers, No. 568 and No. 569 of the main bridge, each use 132 variable-diameter friction bored piles of 2.3–2.0 meters, with a designed pile length of 115 meters and a drilling depth of 130 meters, currently the largest group pile foundation for a combined rail-road bridge.

Main bridge
adopts a (90+210+600+255+105) meter double-tower, five-span, double-cable-plane steel truss cable-stayed structure to cross the Yellow River
Auxiliary bridge foundation
uses 18 bored piles with a diameter of 2.0 meters and a pile length of 75 meters
Approach bridge (railway)
A total of 511 land bored piles are installed. Except for piers No. 555 and No. 584, whose pile foundations have a diameter of 1.0 meter, all others are 1.25 meters, with pile lengths ranging from 55 meters to 70.5 meters.
Since the start of bridge construction, the project team of the Jin-Wei HSR advance section of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group has, in accordance with the construction schedule milestone targets, carefully organized and planned, reasonably allocated on-site personnel and mechanical equipment, and consistently adhered to rigid measures such as proper construction organization, proper safety technical disclosure, proper quality supervision and testing, and proper fabrication and precise hoisting of reinforcement cages. By introducing hole-forming detection equipment to collect and analyze data on all aspects of pile foundation quality and to monitor the entire process, the team is striving to build a quality project and a reassuring project.
At the same time, Dongying District specially established a project task force composed of member units such as transportation, development and reform, finance, and natural resources departments to jointly advance project construction. By sorting out the project advancement list, priority was given to implementing the critical paths constraining construction, communication and coordination with property rights units in electricity, communications, oil and gas, and water supply and drainage were strengthened, and各项工作 such as line surveys, plan approval, agreement signing, and relocation implementation were advanced in overlapping sequence. A sound communication and coordination liaison mechanism with the construction unit has been established, with dedicated personnel assigned for contact, proactive service, and full cooperation, making every effort to provide service support for project construction and ensure that project construction proceeds smoothly according to the overall plan.
The Dongying Yellow River Rail-Road Bridge is located in Dongying District and Lijin County of Dongying City, co-built with National Highway G220. Its upper deck is a two-way six-lane Class I highway, and its lower deck is a double-track high-speed railway. It is a key controlling project of the entire Jin-Wei HSR. The Jin-Wei HSR runs from Tianjin Binhai Station to Weifang North Station, with a main line length of 348.26 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is an important part of the coastal corridor of the national trunk high-speed railway network's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" layout and the auxiliary corridor of the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, and is also a landmark and leading project of Shandong's demonstration zone for a strong transportation country. Once completed, the project will fill the shortcomings in high-speed railway development in coastal areas such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Shandong Peninsula, and greatly enhance connectivity between the Yellow River Delta and city clusters such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta.
