From August 25 to August 27, 2023, the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering organized experts in Kunming to hold a review meeting to review the draft-for-approval versions of two association standards, "Technical Specification for the Application of 3S Technology in Geotechnical Engineering Geological Investigation" and "Technical Specification for 3D Geological Modeling in Geotechnical Engineering," both edited chiefly by Kunming Institute. The review expert panel consisted of 11 experts, mainly from the Yangtze River Scientific Research Institute, China Ordnance Industry Survey and Geotechnical Institute, the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Three Gorges University, the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., and PowerChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited and Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited. Professor-level Senior Engineer Guo Xiling, Vice Chairman of the Standardization Technical Committee of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, served as the head of the review panel. Twenty-five representatives from the chief-editing and participating-editing units of the standards attended the review meeting.

Before the meeting, the review experts carefully examined the draft-for-approval versions of the two standards. At the meeting, they heard the report by the chief-editing units on the feedback received on the draft-for-comment versions and its adoption. After questioning and discussion, the expert panel concluded that the structure of the two specifications is basically reasonable, the content is basically complete, they are operable, and they meet the requirements for the preparation of association standards. The panel agreed to pass the review.
