XCMG horizontal directional drilling rig
sets a new construction record in Nigeria

Recently, XCMG's large-tonnage horizontal directional drilling rig XZ6600 appeared in Nigeria and successfully completed the first bore of a Nigerian oil pipeline laying project, achieving a directional drilling crossing feat of 27 hours of non-stop construction, a pipe diameter of 12.75 inches, and a length of 2,640 meters, setting a local trenchless industry construction record.
As a country in southeastern West Africa, Nigeria has a hot and rainy climate. The directional drilling needed to cross sand-clay layers and gravel layers and span the Niger River, making construction relatively difficult. The XZ6600 was stable and reliable, perfectly overcoming the challenge of long-distance crossing through complex terrain and leveraging its advantages of strong power, precise control, and smooth output to successfully overcome the engineering difficulties.

The XZ6600 horizontal directional drilling rig is a large-tonnage horizontal directional drilling rig independently developed by XCMG. It features fast rotation speed, high torque, and strong thrust and pull force, with a maximum pullback force of up to 6,600 kN, making it suitable for large-diameter, long-distance crossing conditions.
In addition, the XCMG horizontal directional drilling rig is equipped with XCMG's "torque-adaptive automatic cruise construction technology" and "multi-condition speed regulation and multi-gear control technology for rotation, thrust, and pull." It can adapt to different construction conditions through self-learning, offering convenient and stable operation, reducing labor intensity, and increasing construction efficiency. Equipped with a digital display system, construction parameters such as rotation torque and thrust/pull force require no conversion, saving effort and worry.

At the moment the pipeline emerged from the ground, the Nigerian customer excitedly posted on ins: "When the pipe head was seen at the other end, everyone on site was excited. This is the first successful directional drilling crossing in Nigeria and is worth celebrating. Continuous pullback for 27 hours completed 2,640 meters, including one golden weld!"

This project was configured with the "best combination" of XCMG XZ6600 horizontal directional drilling rig + XMP2800 mud pump station. The mud pump can automatically start and stop according to the construction status or idle at the touch of a button, greatly saving mud consumption and reducing construction costs. During the process, it achieved intelligent remote control, flow control, status monitoring, and fault diagnosis, greatly improving work efficiency.
As a standout in the trenchless field, the XCMG XZ6600 has performed excellently in major projects and successfully participated in ultra-long-distance crossings for super projects such as the Dongxing branch line of the Zhongke Refining and Chemical supporting gas transmission pipeline and the Sinopec pipeline laying project.

In the face of customer trust and support, XCMG Foundation will live up to expectations, deepen its efforts in the trenchless construction field, improve product adaptability and reliability for the global market, provide customers with more comprehensive construction equipment and solutions, and promote the effectiveness of XCMG products worldwide.
