XCMG XZ3600 participates in Ningxia Xiji water supply project

Recently, the XCMG XZ3600 horizontal directional drilling rig successfully completed the pull-back task of the 4# pull pipe directional drilling crossing on the Chengxi branch line of the Xiji water supply project in Ningxia. Xiji is one of the resource-based water-scarce counties in Ningxia. In recent years, the problem of water shortage has gradually emerged. In order to solve the problems of domestic water for urban and rural residents and emergency backup water sources for industrial development, Xiji County implemented the Guhai irrigation expansion and pumping station renewal and renovation project, namely the Xiji water supply project.

The 4# pull pipe on the Chengxi branch line of the Xiji water supply project has a DN630 pipe diameter, is 1640 meters long, and has a maximum burial depth of 200 meters. The construction site features high mountains and deep valleys with frequent rainfall. The crossing curve mainly passes through complex geology such as mudstone, sandstone, and collapsible loess, making the construction task extremely challenging.

Constrained by the mountainous terrain of the pull-back pipe laying site, during the preliminary scheme comparison and selection, XCMG technical personnel and project personnel conducted multiple demonstrations and ultimately implemented the "seven-connection-one" crossing method. The XCMG XZ3600 horizontal directional drilling rig completed the pull-back successfully in one pass over 27 hours and 37 minutes, accumulating rich experience for subsequent pull pipe construction.

The XCMG XZ3600 horizontal directional drilling rig adopts a dual power system for strong power; it features the world's first full-process positioning intelligent detection and control technology and multiple anti-collision limit technologies for high safety; a high-pressure common rail electronically controlled engine for high power and low noise; and digital instruments and side-door side filters for simple operation and maintenance. Its many advantages shone brightly in the Ningxia Xiji water supply project and it has become the project's number one key tool for tackling difficult tasks.

In September 2022, the XCMG XZ3600 horizontal directional drilling rig, after 40 hours of day-and-night effort, successfully completed the 1257.11-meter crossing pull-back construction of the 5# pull pipe directional drilling for the Xiji water supply project, helping the project achieve a phased victory.

The Xiji water supply project is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects in the country and one of the major livelihood water conservancy projects of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. After completion, it will improve agricultural efficiency and increase farmers' income in the Hulu River basin, and provide solid water resource guarantees for consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation in the old revolutionary base areas and providing strong water conservancy infrastructure support.
