On June 13, 2023, the press conference and exhibitor preparatory meeting for the 16th China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Material Machinery and Mining Machinery Exhibition and Technical Exchange Conference (BICES 2023) was grandly held in Beijing. At the meeting, Li Jianyou, Vice President of the China Construction Machinery Association and Chairman of the Dual Carbon Working Committee & Engineering Crane Branch, delivered a speech titled "Comprehensively Building the BICES 2023 Green High-end Exhibition Platform to Help Promote the High-quality Development of the Construction Machinery Industry." Good morning, everyone!

The 16th China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Material Machinery and Mining Machinery Exhibition and Technical Exchange Conference, which has attracted much industry attention and anticipation, will be grandly held in September 2023 at the New Hall of the China International Exhibition Center after a four-year interval. Today, we are grandly holding the BICES 2023 100-day countdown press conference and exhibitor preparatory meeting in Beijing.

During these four years, the international political and economic landscape has undergone dramatic changes, with various black swan and gray rhino events occurring frequently, and uncertainty along the path of globalization has been increasing. In today's world full of uncertainty, in order to address the increasingly severe greenhouse climate change and the resulting daunting challenges to the human living environment, major countries and economies around the world have reached consensus and actively fulfilled the Paris Agreement. By the end of 2021, 127 countries and regions had made commitments to carbon neutrality targets. Vigorously developing green and low-carbon transformation and production and lifestyle patterns has become the certainty within today's world of uncertainty.

Under the guidance and leadership of the national dual carbon strategy, the construction machinery industry and enterprises have actively practiced the path of green and low-carbon development. Electric excavators, loaders, mining dump trucks, truck cranes, forklifts, aerial work platforms and others have all shown good development momentum, placing the industry at the forefront of international green development in construction machinery. In 2022, electric forklifts accounted for more than 64% of China's total forklifts, the electric proportion of aerial work platforms reached 91%, and annual sales of electric loaders and electric non-road dump trucks each exceeded one thousand units. Green and low-carbon technologies and new energy engineering equipment have become the theme of development in the construction machinery industry.

To support and promote the green and low-carbon transformation and development of the construction machinery industry and equipment, the Association's Dual Carbon Committee, together with the BICES Organizing Committee, has added exhibit content and a dedicated exhibition zone on green and low-carbon technologies, equipment and services to the BICES 2023 exhibit scope. This encourages and guides industry enterprises to display relevant green and low-carbon technologies and equipment and services, including electric new energy construction machinery, during BICES 2023, thereby supporting domestic and international engineering construction projects such as green transportation, green mining and green urban and rural development. At the same time, during BICES 2023, the BICES Organizing Committee and the Association's Dual Carbon Committee will carry out selection and commendation activities centered on the green development of construction machinery and will organize and convene a standards work meeting of the Dual Carbon Committee.

At this BICES exhibition, participating enterprises of construction machinery main machines, components and supporting services will all actively launch and display their latest green and low-carbon technologies, equipment and services. Green, low-carbon and new energy will become the highlights of BICES 2023. So far, according to feedback from enterprises to the Dual Carbon Committee, Zoomlion will bring a number of its latest high-end, green and intelligent excavators, mobile cranes and concrete machinery and other equipment to the exhibition, of which nearly 50% of exhibits will be products applying new energy technologies, including pure electric, plug-in and hybrid new energy products; Hangcha Group has actively registered for a large-area participation in the BICES 2023 Dual Carbon Exhibition Zone and will focus on displaying Hangcha Group's full series of green, low-carbon and new energy products such as lithium battery and hydrogen energy products; Shandong Lingong will also display a number of main machine products such as electric excavators and loaders; key enterprises such as XCMG, LiuGong and Sany will also present relevant new energy products at the exhibition; at the same time, supporting and service enterprises such as Kaibo Yikong, Jike Development and China Machinery Certification and Inspection will also actively display three-electric supporting technologies, products and dual carbon certification and inspection services.

To facilitate green and low-carbon upstream and downstream users and enterprises in visiting the exhibition, observing exhibits, exchanging technologies and cooperating, the Association's Dual Carbon Committee will work with the BICES Organizing Committee to solicit from exhibiting enterprises a list of green and low-carbon technologies and equipment for BICES 2023, and will provide visitors during the exhibition with the BICES 2023 Green, Low-carbon and New Energy Technology and Equipment Exhibit Handbook, showcasing the construction machinery industry's green and low-carbon technologies, equipment, achievements and applications.

We hope that relevant industry enterprises, exhibitors, users, visitors and media friends will actively participate in and support the BICES 2023 Green and Low-carbon Action Plan, jointly promote the construction machinery industry and enterprises in achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality at an early date, and make new contributions to realizing the high-quality development of the construction machinery industry.
