New Mineral Processing Equipment Replaces Amalgamation Gold Extraction Method
China's cyanide leaching-zinc powder replacement gold extraction process began in the 1970s. In 1985, two small carbon-in-pulp plants were designed and built in Linghu and Hongweigou. In 1986, Zhangjiakou Gold in Hebei introduced nationwide carbon-in-leach (CIL) gold extraction technology and equipment to solve the problem of low recovery rates in mines using the amalgamation-flotation process for gold-bearing ore, raising the gold recovery rate from 73% to 93%. The Liaoning gold mine used carbon-in-leach (CIL) to replace the original cyanide leaching-zinc powder replacement process, increasing the gold recovery rate from 82.93% to 91.4% (8). After the carbon-in-leach technology and equipment were digested, absorbed, and developed, their domestic application spread rapidly. There are already more than 50 carbon-in-leach plants of various domestic production scales, and this has become China's gold production process.
