First Sea Trial of High-Performance Sensing and Detection Equipment under the Deep-Sea Intelligent Technology Special Project Completed for 2021
Recently, the first sea trial of high-performance sensing and detection equipment under the Deep-Sea Intelligent Technology Special Project for 2021 was completed. During the mission, the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly developed a deep-sea methane/carbon dioxide spectral analyzer; the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering jointly developed China's first deep-sea MEMS gas chromatograph; the University of Science and Technology of China and the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering jointly developed China's first deep-sea nuclear radiation detector (CZT/crystal-type gamma spectrometer); and the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering developed a deep-sea bottom biogeochemical in-situ experiment system and an in-situ microbial filtration system. A total of 17 equipment deployments were carried aboard the "Deep Sea Warrior" manned submersible, acquiring in situ important data on nearly 20 low-molecular-weight hydrocarbon gas components, dissolved methane/carbon dioxide concentrations, and gamma radionuclides, and conducting an in-situ isotope tracer experiment on methane oxidation rates at approximately 1,800 meters in the South China Sea, adding another "sharp tool" to deep-sea and deep-diving scientific research.
